It All Started in 2026

Soleil Fantasy Football began in 2026 with a simple idea: bring together neighbors who enjoy football, a little friendly competition, and having some fun during the NFL season.

What started as an effort to see whether there was enough interest for one fantasy football league quickly grew. The response from the Soleil community was so strong that we ended up creating two leagues — the Soleil AFC and Soleil NFC — with 26 players participating in our inaugural season.

The leagues are hosted on Yahoo Fantasy Football, with Jim serving as commissioner of the AFC and Kurt serving as commissioner of the NFC.

While the AFC and NFC operate as separate fantasy leagues, we’re really one Soleil Fantasy Football community. Players from both leagues share a common GroupMe, follow the combined standings, enjoy weekly recaps, and — most importantly — have a chance to get to know a few more of their neighbors.

The First Draft

The inaugural Soleil Fantasy Football drafts were held in September 2026.

For many participants, this was their first experience playing fantasy football. Others came in with years of experience. That mixture was part of what we wanted from the beginning: a league where experienced players could compete while newcomers could learn the game without feeling intimidated.

And once the drafts were complete, Soleil Fantasy Football was officially underway.

More Than Wins and Losses

Of course, everyone wants to win.

But Soleil Fantasy Football was created to be about more than standings, waiver claims, injuries, and wondering why the player you left on your bench suddenly scored 30 points.

It’s another way for people in our community to connect, talk a little football, enjoy some friendly competition, and have something fun to follow throughout the season.

There will be great teams, terrible lineup decisions, surprise victories, heartbreaking losses, questionable trades, waiver-wire steals, and probably more than a few Monday-night miracles.

Those are the stories that will become our league history.
