Around the League – Week 3

Week 3 brought a scoring explosion from Joe, another strong showing from Jim Meeder, and a close escape for Denise. Four teams remain undefeated across Soleil, but the challengers are making plenty of noise.

Soleil Standings Watch

Eric Strevel’s Buzzing Jackets remain atop the combined standings at 3-0, with 399.08 season points. Three other undefeated teams round out the leading group:

• Jim’s Fantasy Force — Jim Kappes, AFC: Second overall with 352.54 points.
• The Pigskins — Diane, AFC: Third overall with 345.72 points.
• Serenity Now — Howard / David, NFC: Fourth overall with 343.54 points.

Jim took over first place in the AFC, while Eric held the NFC lead. Kurt’s Super Bowl or Bust and Deb’s Gray-t Gridiron suffered their first losses, trimming Soleil’s undefeated club to four.

Right behind them, nine teams sit at 2-1. Joe’s NO Kneelers lead that group with 398.82 season points, just 0.26 behind Eric’s overall scoring total. That’s practically a rounding error with bragging rights attached.

Soleil High Score: NO Kneelers Run Wild

Joe’s NO Kneelers scored 164.48 points, topping both leagues and beating Steve’s Let’s Go!!, 97.08. The 67.40-point margin was also Soleil’s largest victory this week.

Joe jumped from seventh to third in the AFC. With a team name like NO Kneelers, apparently letting up wasn’t an option.

NFC High Score: Jim Meeder Keeps Rolling

Jim Meeder’s 2-Min Drill scored 131.84 points, leading the NFC and defeating John Fowler’s FowlBall, 103.16. His second straight win moved him into third place in the NFC at 2-1.

Between Joe’s scoring explosion and Jim’s momentum, the undefeated teams have good reason to check their rearview mirrors.

Serenity Now Wins the Undefeated Showdown

Howard / David’s Serenity Now defeated Super Bowl or Bust Kurt 124.96–84.22, staying perfect while handing Kurt his first loss.

The 40.74-point margin was the NFC’s largest of the week. Kurt’s Super Bowl plans remain intact, but this particular week leaned toward “Bust.”

Closest Finish: Denise Gets the Last Dance

The tightest matchup across both leagues belonged to Touchdown Dance Denise, who edged Angie’s Tipsy Tacklers 113.64–107.62.

Just 6.02 points separated them, leaving both at 2-1. Denise moved into fourth in the AFC, one spot ahead of Angie. Friendly neighbors in the standings, perhaps—but somebody still gets to bring up the score.

The NFC’s closest finish went to David McCleskey’s Senior Football, which defeated Michael Parker’s Barking Dawgs 101.44–91.06, a 10.38-point margin.

First Wins Deserve Some Noise

Rick’s Motor City Cats beat Out of My Way Dave 112.30–101.74 for their first AFC victory.

Any Given Pam defeated Sunday Funday Glen 115.08–103.34 for her first NFC win.

Both improved to 1-2. Getting that first win takes a little pressure off—and makes checking the standings considerably more enjoyable.

AFC vs. NFC: A Split Decision

The AFC claimed the highest individual team score, thanks to Joe’s 164.48. The NFC claimed the higher league average, scoring 105.16 points per team compared with the AFC’s 101.62.

Each league has two undefeated teams. The AFC gets the fireworks award; the NFC gets the higher average. Neither side is likely to concede anything in Chat.

Player Spotlight

Jahmyr Gibbs delivered 37.9 fantasy points, topping the player highlights in both leagues. That’s the sort of performance that makes a manager feel like a draft-day genius.

At the other end, Nico Collins’s 0 points in the AFC highlights and Jadarian Price’s 0.7 in the NFC offered a less pleasant reminder: a promising lineup still has to produce.

Around the League Notes

Carol’s Ground & Pound jumped from eighth to fifth in the NFC with a 116.88–94.00 win over Dan’s Waddle we talking about here. In the AFC, Overtime RICHARD earned his second straight victory, beating Brooke View Trailblazers 85.96–73.76.

For those still chasing their first victory, there’s plenty of season left. For those sitting at 3-0, enjoy it—but don’t get too comfortable.
