Week 3 – AFC Recap

Week 3 brought a scoring explosion from Joe, a close escape for Denise, and a shakeup at the top. Only two AFC teams remain undefeated—and five more are right behind them at 2-1.

NO Kneelers make a statement

Joe’s NO Kneelers piled up 164.48 points, the highest score across both Soleil leagues this week, defeating Steve’s Let’s Go!!, 97.08. The 67.40-point margin was also the AFC’s largest.

Joe jumped from seventh to third and now leads the AFC in season scoring with 398.82 points. With a team name like NO Kneelers, apparently letting up wasn’t an option. Steve fell to 0-3 despite posting a score that would have won two other AFC matchups.

Jim’s Fantasy Force takes first place

Jim Kappes’s Fantasy Force defeated Deb’s Gray-t Gridiron 117.54–93.04, improving to 3-0 and taking over first place. Deb suffered her first loss and slipped to seventh in the crowded 2-1 group.

The commissioner is now atop the standings. We’ll assume the league office has reviewed this and found no evidence of preferential treatment.

The Pigskins stay perfect

Diane’s Pigskins beat Brian’s Brown Paper Baggers 84.08–68.16, joining Jim as the AFC’s only undefeated teams. Diane sits in second place at 3-0, just 6.82 season points behind Jim.

It wasn’t the week’s biggest offensive showcase, but wins count the same whether they come with fireworks or a paper bag. Brian remains in search of his first victory at 0-3.

Denise wins the closest matchup

Touchdown Dance Denise edged Angie’s Tipsy Tacklers 113.64–107.62. The 6.02-point margin made this the closest finish in either Soleil league this week.

Denise improved to 2-1 and moved into fourth place. Angie took her first loss and landed in fifth, also at 2-1. This time, Denise got the touchdown dance; Angie got the “if only” lineup review.

Motor City Cats get on the board

Rick’s Motor City Cats earned their first win, beating Out of My Way Dave 112.30–101.74. Rick climbed from tenth to eighth, while Dave slipped to ninth. Both teams now stand at 1-2.

The Cats are finally out of the starting gate—and the rest of the AFC has been warned.

Richard makes it two straight

Overtime RICHARD defeated Sheila / Mitch’s Brooke View Trailblazers 85.96–73.76, improving to 2-1 with a second consecutive win. No overtime required.

The Trailblazers remain at 0-3, but there’s still plenty of season left to find a new route up the standings.
