Week 7 AFC Recap
Week 7 brought a scoring crown for Jim, a big rebound for Angie, and another close escape for Diane. All five teams at the top won, Dave extended his streak to four, and the gap between the leaders and the middle of the AFC grew wider. Apparently, nobody in the chase pack received the memo about taking turns.
Jim Brings the Force
Jim’s Fantasy Force (Jim Kappes) earned Week 7’s AFC scoring honors with 128.64 points, defeating Motor City Cats (Rick), 89.32.
The 39.32-point victory gave Jim his second straight win and moved him to 5-2, second in the AFC.
Jim now leads the conference in season scoring with 835.02 points, moving ahead of Denise. Across Soleil, he finished just 0.64 points behind NFC scoring leader Jim Meeder.
Two Jims, separated by less than a point. Apparently, sharing a first name doesn’t mean sharing the scoring crown.
Rick fell to 3-4 and ninth place. A week after getting Motor City back to .500, the Cats ran into a Force they couldn’t steer around.
Biggest Win: Tipsy Tacklers Find Their Footing
Tipsy Tacklers (Angie) defeated Brooke View Trailblazers (Sheila/Mitch), 126.28–82.42, earning the AFC’s largest margin of victory at 43.86 points.
Angie snapped a four-game losing streak, improved to 3-4, and climbed to eighth place.
Last week, the Tacklers scored 58.56, the AFC’s lowest total. This week, they more than doubled that output and delivered the biggest win. Whatever Angie changed, she may want to write it down.
The Trailblazers fell to 1-6 with a second straight loss and remain twelfth. Sheila and Mitch brought 82.42 points to the meeting; Angie arrived with an entirely different agenda.
Closest Finish: Diane Gets Back to Winning—and Worrying
The Pigskins (Diane) held off Overtime RICHARD, 121.78–114.32, in the AFC’s closest matchup of Week 7.
The 7.46-point victory moved Diane to 6-1, keeping her first in the conference and third overall in Soleil.
After losing her undefeated record last week, Diane wasted little time returning to the win column. Comfortable victories, however, apparently remain an optional upgrade.
Richard fell to 3-4 with a third consecutive loss, despite posting the week’s fourth-highest AFC score. He moved up to sixth on season points, but another loss probably wasn’t the kind of movement he wanted.
Overtime RICHARD could have used a little actual overtime. Unfortunately, fantasy football’s suggestion box remains firmly closed.
Denise Keeps Dancing; Joe Looks for Points
Touchdown Dance Denise defeated NO Kneelers (Joe), 82.68–56.82, by 25.86 points.
Denise earned her second straight victory and improved to 5-2, although Jim’s bigger scoring day moved her from second to third in the AFC.
Last week, Denise needed 133.80 points to collect the scoring crown. This week, 82.68 was enough to collect another win. The touchdown dance may have been shorter, but it still counts.
Joe’s 56.82 was the AFC’s lowest score. He fell to 3-4 with a second straight loss and slipped to seventh place.
“NO Kneelers” could use a few more end-zone visitors next week.
Dave Makes It Four; Deb Makes It Three
Out of my way (Dave) defeated Brown Paper Baggers (Brian), 111.78–90.40, earning his fourth consecutive victory.
The 21.38-point win moved Dave to 5-2, keeping him fifth in the AFC.
Dave’s team name is beginning to sound like advance notice. Four straight wins, and he’s still coming down the road.
Brian fell to 2-5, ending his two-game winning streak. Last week, 63.50 points bought him a victory. This week, 90.40 wasn’t enough. Apparently, the sale ended.
Gray-t Gridiron (Deb) defeated Let’s Go!! (Steve), 106.48–93.20, by 13.28 points.
Deb followed last week’s victory over Diane with a third straight win, improving to 5-2 and holding fourth place.
Steve fell to 1-6 with a third consecutive loss. After defeats by 0.18 and 3.46 points, this one offered a little less suspense—but no improvement in the result. “Let’s Go!!” remains an entirely reasonable request.
Player Highlights: Burrow Takes the Spotlight
Joe Burrow topped the AFC’s player highlights with 28.88 fantasy points.
That’s the kind of production that makes opening the scoring app considerably more enjoyable.
Mike Evans was listed at 0 in the weekly lowest-player highlight. Managers hoping for points from that lineup spot had nothing to celebrate on the scoreboard.
Burrow supplied the fireworks. Evans’ scoring line supplied the uncomfortable silence.
Standings Watch: The Leaders Refuse to Budge
The Pigskins (Diane) lead the AFC at 6-1, with 794.96 season points.
Four teams remain one game behind at 5-2, ordered by season points:
- Jim’s Fantasy Force (Jim Kappes): 835.02 points.
- Touchdown Dance Denise: 817.56 points.
- Gray-t Gridiron (Deb): 795.78 points.
- Out of my way (Dave): 732.16 points.
Overtime RICHARD, NO Kneelers, Tipsy Tacklers, and Motor City Cats sit at 3-4, holding sixth through ninth.
Brown Paper Baggers follow at 2-5, while Let’s Go!! and Brooke View Trailblazers round out the conference at 1-6.
All five leading teams won, leaving two full games between fifth and sixth place. Diane still has four challengers just one game behind, and Jim now owns the AFC’s highest season scoring total. That first-place parking spot remains under close observation.
Looking Ahead
Jim takes the scoring crown, Angie delivers the biggest victory, and Diane survives the closest finish. Denise keeps winning, Deb makes it three straight, and Dave extends the AFC’s longest active winning streak to four.
Week 8 gives the chase pack another chance to catch Diane—and the middle of the standings a chance to close the gap. Check those lineups, watch the bye weeks, and keep the friendly trash talk coming. Angie has earned a little extra volume this week.
